The Entrepreneurship and Enterprise area focuses its activity, on the one hand, on supporting the creation of companies and collaboration in the growth and improvement of the competitiveness of small and medium-sized companies in the city, on the other hand.
Support for the creation of businesses
On the one hand, the Area of Entrepreneurship and Business focusses on supporting the creation of businesses, and on the other hand, boosting the growth and improvement of the competitiveness of small and medium businesses in the city.
BIG Bilbao is an open space, located in the city centre (Ensanche Building), which seeks to become a leading reference of entrepreneurship in Bilbao. A meeting point for interaction and networking among entrepreneurs, ongoing projects and businesses. It is also a versatile space for offering training in entrepreneurial skills, and can also be used as place for demonstrations, innovation and trends.
Specialised technical personnel support the entrepreneur all the way, from the development of the business idea to the creation of the business and, subsequently, during the first two years of activity, in order to establish the project.
All business ideas are welcome at BIG Bilbao, especially those related to the sectors considered as “strategic” for the city. These include the Digital Economy, Advanced Services and Creative and Cultural Industries.
Support for the growth and improvement of the competitiveness of businesses
In addition to support for Entrepreneurship, Bilbao Ekintza plays an important role in providing support for the small and medium businesses of the city, and even more so given the current crisis linked to Covid-19.
This support is essentially provided through a consultancy service for the companies which covers a number of different areas. These range from management (administration, HR, commercial management and marketing) to the support required to address strategic challenges in the organisation such as the launch of a new product, a new business line, or a plan for internal restructuring.
In addition, from the Business area, training is also offered to the SMEs. This is noted for its constant adaptation to the specific needs of the businesses, identifying difficulties, challenges, shortcomings, to then put together the best programme in the hands of the most relevant professionals. The training, which is highly practical, takes the form of short workshops, networking conferences, cycles of webinars or workshops.
At the same time, specific programmes are also developed such as the Mentoring Programme, which aims to support and accompany businesses throughout the process to acquire experience and knowledge, in order to improve their long-term vision. Another is Balebila Proiektua, a consultancy and practical training programme in the area of international digital communication.
