Among the measures implemented, the most important job opportunity launched to date in Bilbao stands out, thanks to the General and Youth Employment Plans 2020-2021, which entail the creation of 1,012 new jobs; 311 by the City Council through Bilbao Ekintza for the development of activities of utility and public interest in municipal areas and entities; 701 in collaboration with the private sector and companies thanks to the hiring aid launched.
These programs, promoted jointly with Lanbide, the Basque Employment Service of the Basque Government, have a total investment of 10.9 million euros.
In parallel, the Bilbao Berraktibatzen program has been launched, with funding from the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, with the objective of completing the accompaniment towards the return to work of unemployed people as a result of the crisis caused by the COVID-19.
This program is already helping the participants to enhance their different skills, including those in the digital field, developing a personalized action plan to start the job search. In addition, meetings are being held with companies in order to identify and learn first-hand current or future employment opportunities.
These initiatives are part of the global plan promoted by the Bilbao City Council, Bilbao Aurrera, a series of Urgent Measures for Social Cohesion, Economic Reactivation, Employment and Culture support of the city in the context of the situation generated by Covid-19.
