Every Christmas, Bilbao City Council puts forward a wide programme of activities aimed at turning the city into a huge point of attraction and establishing it as a major reference in leisure and culture activities.
As part of this programme, Bilbao City Council, through Bilbao Ekintza municipal society, offers different programmes and actions aimed at boosting local trade. Some of these include:
- Christmas Market: This initiative, in the style of leading European cities, seeks to create a commercial area, giving local retailers and/or producers an opportunity to offer their Christmas products to visitors and tourists.
- Entertainment around the city: This includes a wide range of activities in the streets aimed at encouraging shopping in the city, boosting economic activity and making Bilbao a focal point of attraction for visitors at Christmas.
